Freedom In Christ: “No Other Gospel”
Scripture: Galatians 1:1-9

In Paul's intro to his letter, we see in his anger and frustration that the Galatian Christians had allowed distortions to the message of Jesus how powerful, how unique, and how special the gospel is, and how easily we distort it.

Written during the first few months of the pandemic about his own struggles with mental health, this song by Taylor Goldsmith of the indie band Dawes explores the perpetual human drive to find experiences or accomplishments that will bring us lasting fulfillment and joy and happiness, and similarly to the book of Ecclesiastes concludes that they do not satisfy. Both the song and Ecclesiastes point to the need of a Savior who can redeem even our suffering.  Thanks to Dr. Robby Glasscock for delivering the sermon.

The Cross and the Jukebox: “Every Grain of Sand”
    song:  "Every Grain of Sand"
written and performed by:  Bob Dylan
    Scripture:  Psalm 33

On the last track of his last Christian-themed album, Dylan places what is widely considered one of his greatest songs.  "Every Grain of Sand" is a reflection on Dylan's experience of God's grace and presence over his life.  When we have the eyes of faith, we can see God's hand in the seemingly mundane things of life, and recognize the truth that, as Jesus tells us, "every hair is numbered" and that God's providential hand is with us at every moment.

    David: “What Made David Great”
    Series: David
    Scripture:  Psalm 27

Everyone who knows the Bible knows that King David was a great man. Yet everyone familiar with the Bible will also recognize that David did a lot of not-so-great things. So what made him great? It was that David consistently saw something that many people do not see: that God is in control, and that God is the only one in whom we can place our trust.
